Today I noticed an icon in the accost bar of my Gmail inbox.
Clicking on it results in the to a higher place statement which is carefully crafted to impart absolutely nothing to the hapless user.
Googling for some explanation, I institute this response to someone called Dottie on a rather quaint site called "asktcl.com" :-
" Dear Dottie,
I encounter that you accept a Gmail electronic mail accost so I am going to assume that you are on the Gmail inbox page when this icon appears.
A service handler is a piffling bit of programming that volition handle a asking for a service. In your example, the request would be a link that opens a new email, and if yous have the right service handler installed, the link would open up a new email in Gmail.
Y'all tin either ignore the asking, let the request or deny it.
If you allow the asking, then come upon a link on a spider web folio for sending an email, clicking on that link would automatically open up a new email in Gmail.

Thinking Wow! this is something that I've been dreaming of for years, yes please!
Sadly information technology has no effect what so ever, electronic mail links Even so open up in my Hotmail account.
Changing the default to "Chrome" just tells my organization to ignore whatsoever requests to open email address links at all!
Anyone else seen this message and successfully made it work?
A niggling more info:-
I headed over to: "chrome://settings/handlers" where I could see that my TalkTalk email for some reason was "enabled" though never, it appears received any poke into action!
I have ii Gmail addresses, and presume that is why lower downwardly the page there are two Gmail entries, neither of which is divers and both proclaim to be "Blocked"!
The only option to change this country is "Remove".
I despair of e'er having the luxury of clicking on an email address and having information technology open in Gmail.

Sorry I never revisited this thread notwithstanding, since this morning, the default email client reverted to the Service Providers offer.
I rarely utilize that and have no thought why it has happened, so I headed over to Chrome Settings > Handlers and sure enough the TalkTalk address had muscled it's style to the meridian of the heap!
One time slapped downwardly and gmail reinstated, all was once more well in heaven and email links responded as expected!
